A Learning Garden
The family that cares for this garden has a great fondness for the plants and animals of the Bay Area. We wanted to use the garden as a resource for the residents of the neighborhood to learn while enjoying its sights, sounds, and smells. As the seasons change, so too does the garden. Discovering Birds
Birds are identified around the garden by matching their songs and calls using BirdNET, Cornell University's AI-powered bird sound recognition research platform. Short audio clips are recorded and analyzed on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, a small, cheap, low power computer. When a detection is made with high confidence, a record is saved. Over time we hope to discover patterns of bird visitors to the area.
